Bikes, Books & Brunch - The Prologue
Another rainy moto trip? Absolutely.
This ride led us to literary heaven — Rough Draft Books & Café in Kingston, New York.
Tucked inside a beautiful historic building, this cozy bookstore café is the perfect reward after a ride through Upstate’s winding roads and backroad dirt. Rough Draft isn’t just about good coffee and great books — they’re also committed to community. The shop supports the Beacon Prison Book Project, helping get books into the hands of incarcerated individuals, and features a thoughtfully curated section dedicated to independent presses like Transit Books.
Their motto is simple: Read. Sip. Repeat.
And that’s exactly what we did.
Our resident coffee connoisseur Clay gave the coffee a glowing review, while I ordered the June Austen — a Dirty London Fog made with condensed coconut milk and vanilla bean extract. Absolute magic.
We got so drenched on the ride that our motocamping plans had to be scrapped in favor of a dry mountain lodge instead. The cozy vibes continued there, where we attempted to dry our soggy riding boots by the fire pit…
…and let’s just say you’ll want to watch until the end for that golden moment.
