Another successful camping trip this summer! We took the Port Jeff ferry across The Sound and rode some of our favorite scenic roads and stopped at some of our favorite pit stops - Hayfields Market and Hardscrabble Farmstand. Then we took some new twistys and made our way to Robibero's Family Vineyard - a place I had been years ago, and remembered having a wonderful experience. And this time it didn't disappoint. I recognized the owner Harry as we approached the tasting table, and after speaking with him briefly, he invited us to camp right there at the Vineyard. It was the absolute perfect location - scenic, private, spacious, safe and, not to mention, everyone who worked there was accommodating and friendly (wine tastings on-the-house, and even the camping was compensated after explaining that we had reservations elsewhere that we couldn't cancel).
After going into downtown New Paltz for dinner and ice cream, we returned to the vineyard to sit around the enormous fire pit with some of the employees/family of the owners. We enjoyed lively conversation, comfy Adirondack chairs, and even launching sky lanterns above the farm. It was an absolutely perfect moto-camping destination. Unfortunately we did wake up to rain, so we quickly packed up and took the boring interstate home. Luckily I survived wet roads, grooved pavement, and a bald tire. The only thing missing on this trip was our favorite moto-lady, Danielle. She WILL be joining us next time! Then maybe the boys will be more willing to ride my pace on the highway ;-)
