It was such an honor to work alongside Ian Wile from Little Creek Oysters to put on such an enjoyable event that raised $10K+ for mens health on behalf of the Movember Foundation. The weather was absolutely perfect for a slow ride through wine country, twisting along beachfront roads, parading through the harbor town of Greenport and being welcomed by the Orient State Park in the "homestretch". Little Creek Oyster's Sunshine Shack generously donated a BBQ lunch for all participants, and we handed out prizes for the most money raised (way to go, Dana!) the most dapper attendee (our Dane mascots' vet, Dr. D'Amato) and the best ride (Christian's Custom Harley Electra Glide). We couldn't have done any of this without our extremely generous sponsors who provided funds, volunteer efforts, and prizes for our event - Little Creek Oysters, North Fork Moto, 78 Motor Co., First and South, Crescendo Designs, and Lettieri Construction.  Yes, it's been nearly 15 years since I organized and hosted a moto event. So I couldn't be happier to have partnered with Little Creek Oysters to host the East End's FIRST Distinguished Gentleman's Ride on May 21st 2023.
This worldwide event to benefit men's health has always been something I wanted to participate in. But the closest ride was in NYC, and that event is so large, it was rather daunting. So I was elated when Ian Wile from Little Creek Oysters approached us and encouraged us to co-host a North Fork Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride. I wasted no time doing my research, applying to be a host, learning all the rules, and digging into their countless resources to help make this ride the "Dapper" event that it's known to be around the world. On Sunday, October 12th, 2008 I singled-handedly organized a motorcycle ride/car show in Southampton to benefit the Long Island Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Classic and collectable cars and motorcycles gathered at the North Sea Fire Department Memorial Field for a full day show where all proceeds were donated to the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event raised awareness of Cystic Fibrosis while honoring my brother, Jeffrey Jones Jr. as well as all the various individuals living on Long Island with Cystic Fibrosis. It was my passion for riding my motorcycle throughout the Hamptons and my brother’s passion for automobiles inspired me to organize this event. All motorcycles, were adorned with purple support ribbons, and departed for a scenic group ride to Montauk then returned to the car show where various types of automobiles were on display. There was also a variety of raffle items include a men’s leather motorcycle jacket, a women’s golf bag, a patio set, gift certificates for car washes, local salons, local restaurants, as well as many other gifts. Thanks to so many local supporters, friends, family, and volunteers, the event was a huge success! All proceeds from Cruise for a Cure and a Car Show were donated to the Long Island Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation--a donor-supported, nonprofit organization--is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those living on Long Island with the disease. Cystic Fibrosis is a currently incurable genetic disease causing the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. |
